KWIMSA – Kenya Women in Mathematical Sciences Association

Date of Creation: 24th November, 2014

 AIM : To promote women in mathematics in Africa and promote mathematics among young
      girls and women in Africa

 OBJECTIVES: The objectives of KWIMSA are to;

  • encourage African women to take up and continue their studies in mathematics
  • foster international scientific communication among Kenyan women within and across fields in mathematics
  • Promote equal opportunity and equal treatment of women and men in the  Kenyan Mathematical community.
  •  increase access of Kenyan women to socio-economic benefits of mathematics.
  • Increase access of Kenyan women to grants
  • promote participation of KWIMSA in the development of Kenya.
  • cooperate with groups and organizations with similar goals.
  • promote cooperation and exchange of ideas in mathematics research and teaching of mathematics.
  • stimulate communication between women in mathematics in Kenya.
  • organize research seminars andcolloquia in mathematics in Kenya.
