The main objective of SWMA is the promotion of mathematics and of Senegalese and African female mathematicians living in Senegal.
The aims of SWMA are as follows:
- To unite like minded members and to create links of understanding and solidarity between them;
- To make the community aware of the importance and usefulness of mathematics;
- To promote and popularise mathematics, science and technology in Senegalese society;
- To encourage girls to choose to study science, in particular mathematics;
- To strengthen national and international collaboration among female mathematicians;
- To promote cooperation, collaboration and exchange in research and in the teaching of mathematics;
- To provide a meeting place for these women;
- To promote equality of opportunity and treatment between women and men in the Senegalese mathematical community;
- To promote the participation of AWSM in the development of Senegal;
- To cooperate with groups and organisations having similar aims;
- To promote scientific publications;
- To implement all actions, programmes or initiatives which may contribute to the realisation of the objectives of the Association.
The elected executive consists of Salimata Guèye Diagne, President, Faguèye Ndiaye Sylla, Secretary and Coumba Diallo Diop, Treasurer.
